The Adventures of Hocus Pocus: Cliff Jumping!

by br3ntbr0

I recently discovered something very cool that I could do with my Goblin Shaman. While playing Hocus Pocus on Monolith I accidentally did something that was scary and fun all at the same time, and then got crazy enough to repeat it, kinda like a first time bungee jumper that gets instantly hooked on the rush. Using the Eeeek! ability, you can jump off of just about any height and live to tell about it. I assume that part of Eeeek's mechanic is that you don't take damage on the first thing you hit when you initially land, which would make sense because that helps you to avoid killing yourself when using this ability.

I actually found this out completely by accident. I was in a PQ with a few guildies in Dwarf/Greenskin T4 and we were up on a very high cliff. My back was to the wall. I attracted the attention of about 4 mobs that were about 5 levels higher than me. My instant reaction was Eeeek! to knock them down and get me away. Whoooosh! Over the cliff I went, since this ability apparently will shoot you in a random direction. The fall was so long, I had time to queue up on vent and say, "This won't end well...I Eeeeked myself over the cliff and I'm in the process of probably the longest fall I've taken in the game yet." I was already down to a quarter health, I knew death was imminent. To my amazement, I landed on both feet and didn't take a lick of falling damage.

Determined to find out if this was a bug (still might be, but I think its actually the planned design of the skill) or a fluke or something, I decided to do some testing while I was in Dragonwake doing some quests early one Saturday morning when nothing else was going on. Dragonwake has some of the highest peaks and bridges I've come across yet, perfect for cliff jumping and bridge diving. I documented the whole process and have it for you in all its YouTube glory:

FUN FUN FUN!! Since that video was made, I have actually refined my cliff jumping technique and can now basically dive off of any height at a whim and land below without a scratch. I'll put together a part 2 video for this soon and show you the improved technique. Enjoy!

that looks like fun! :D
i hate to use that abbility in anroc because u ALWAYS get kicked into the lava. but it really is a great escape abbility.
do you think it would work if you first jump normal from the bridge and use the eeeek! in the air?

Well, you've figured out the "refined technique" that I mentioned will be shown in part 2 :)

LOL .. great video. Reminds me of my days playing a mage in WoW. Jump then blink before hitting bottom. Or jump then ice block.
Looks like a great escape tactic.
