Mythic was right - no official forums needed for Warhammer Online

by br3ntbr0

Not when you reach out to the community bloggers like this. I believe that Mythic was right not to have official forums. I know that there has been plenty of debate amongst the members of the Warhammer community about the decision. Many have questioned the call because there seems to be a lack of a central place to go for official interaction, etc, etc. There's more than a few reasons that people have stated that its detrimental to their community management efforts, but I'm definitely not in that camp at all.

After all I've seen from Mythic, I know that these guys put in some serious effort to reach out and communicate with the community. Sure, we never seem to know exactly where the news will pop up, but the level of forthright communication with the community is nothing short of impressive. It might be the VN boards, Paul's YouTube channel, from the Herald...or maybe even from the independent community blogs. After seeing Mythic's unique way of "leaking" the information about the Slayer class in Warhammer via this image on Keen and Graev's gaming blog...

...and also now this image about the Choppa on the Greenskin's blog...

...I think its safe to say that nobody reaches out and interacts with their customers quite like Mythic does, and certainly with less flair if they do. I think its pretty clear that Mythic is using these popular blogs to communicate that an official announcement about the Slayer and the Choppah coming to the game is coming on Jan 29th. I know several Warhammer bloggers that have been contacted by Mythic recently, so something is definitely afoot. There's alot of activity being generated by Mythic's community management team, and that can only mean some big news coming next week.

The coming of the Slayer really has me thinking about coming back to Warhammer, only this time as Order, and playing one of these cool stunties. My previous exploits as a Dwarf proved to be fun, and the added flavor of playing a slayer is appealing as I think about returning to Tier 1 and seeing all that has improved with the game during my hiatus.

Can anyone recommend a good server for Order?

Pretty big server, constant RvR it seems. I quite enjoy it. Its Open though, if you like that.

waralytics says that Dark Crag, Badlands, Phoenix Throne, Skull Throne and Red Eye Mountain are the most populated, Dark crag being the most with 34k people.

check it: http://www.waralytics.com/warservers/index

Yes, Dark Crag. I play Destro, after coming from Monolith, and it blew my mind. On Monolith, the world chat was never used, on Dark Crag its like walking into Barrens Chat. People everywhere, I really enjoy it.

Karak-Norm needs some more good order players,
We have been getting organized pretty good last few weeks with alliances banding together and destro getting their noses bloodied.
But they still outnumber us.. so we just need a few more players to really put the fight to them !
(european server though)

Phoenix Throne without question. Good guilds, good action (oRvR, scenario). I've tried other servers but the high pop and quality gamers on PT keep me there.

On a side note, I always play dwarf characters. I had original planned on playing a Hammerer until they were cut. However, the prospect of playing the Slayer has me ready to trade in my 40 IB. T1 here I come!
