Hi-Rez Studio's Global Agenda continues to impress, and now we have 5 new game play fully showing off many aspects of the game. The videos posted below brought to mind all that makes Global Agenda very unique, and for those of you trying to figure out just what this game is all about hopefully this feature list and videos below can shed some light on things for you.
I was doing my usual tunneling through the interwebs when I came across this feature list by Hi-Rez, which really sheds some light on all that the game will bring to the table:
Global Agenda's unique fusion of shooter-based action, role-playing mechanics, and grand territorial strategy gameplay can make the game difficult to easily pigeonhole into a "classic" game genre. At Hi-Rez Studios, our number one objective is to bring a fresh, insanely fun game to market -- not necessarily to fit neatly into an existing category.
That said, however, the game has a broad set of features that MMO players have grown accustomed to and that are traditionally considered when discussing whether a game is a "true MMO."
These features include:
* Player vs Environment missions with boss fights
* Player vs Player missions with different objective types
* A large-scale, persistent territory control framework and Campaign
* Multiple character classes and subclasses
* Character leveling and progression
* Skill trees
* Social Hubs
* Achievements
* Loot with various qualities
* Blueprints and crafting
* Economy and auction system
* Gear upgrades
* Alliances and Agencies (our version of "guilds").
* Grouping systems (for easily teaming with other players for missiosn)
* Character customization and dyes
* Flair and seasonal items
* Alliance/Agency/Group/Side/Team text chat
* Integrated Voice Chat
* Thirty+ different major weapons/devices for each class
* Scores of character emotes
* A "Raid" system that is part of the campaign system that allows coordinated teams of up to 60 persons (working inside up to 6 different strike teams) to simultaneously raid the enemy, working toward a common raid objective.
* Single server-shard per major geographic region -- meaning you can communicate with and compete with/against tens of thousands of other players.
That list really brings to light that Global Agenda really is a fusion of games like none I've seen to date. I think that perhaps its kind of like imagining Team Fortress 2, World of Warcraft and Planetside thrown in a pot and the end result being Global Agenda soup. Check out the videos below, which may further aid you in getting your mind wrapped around this hybrid title:
PVP Gameplay
The bread and butter of GA, the PVP looks very fun and constantly reminds me of my current favorite game in this space, Team Fortress 2. We get to see alot of the Heavy Assault class blasting things. Its also worth noting that support style classes like Robotics seem to have alot of value when taking/defending ground with those sweet looking shields they can erect.
Co-Op Gameplay
There's alot to soak in here. Its very crazy and hectic, with many explosions and skills shown by the players. To me its very reminiscent of missions in City of Heroes. Lets just hope it doesn't get as boringly repetitive as those are. Here's to hoping that they find ways to incorporate those cool mechs into PVP some how.
Character Customization and Tutorial Gameplay
The character creation step is shown here, where we can see all the facial customization options that you will never see after you put your helmet on. You can check out the opening cut scene that shows your character being "birthed" into the game world for the first time.
Character Creation Gameplay
There are some hidden gems in this clip. There is are 3 levels of armor dye, opening up some cool (or sickening) color combinations. This should provide the ability to make a guild an agency called <Purple People Eaters> with all your crew in royal purple. We can also see a dizzying array of weapon selections for the Sniper Spy Recon and Heavy classes.
Dome City Gameplay
This video shows defnite evidence of an emote system. As the player runs around and explores the city you can see plenty of players just hanging out and trying out these different emotes. While all we see is the Dome City environment, it looks pretty good to me. I assume that this will be the only "social area" that offers players a place to congregate when not blasting things, but hopefully there will be more. I can imagine Dome City will be jam packed since Hi-Rez plans to have a single server to support the entire population.
